It's HOTPOT TIME!

For our second eatup, we're going to be having hotpot at Grand Sichuan in Chinatown. We'll be getting the half spicy half mild broth hot pot.

For those unfamiliar with hotpot, a tall pot filled with broth is kept simmering at the table, and ingredients that you order collectively are placed into the pot and cooked at the table. Typical hot pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, leafy vegetables, mushrooms, wontons, egg dumplings, and seafood. Our personal favorites are the fried tofu, bean sprouts, enoki mushrooms, and noodles.

At Grand Sichuan, you order each ingredient separately, so the more people you have, the more variety you get. We'll order family style based on group concensus. Unfortunately, I was only allowed to make a reservation for eight people, so seating is limited.

Hope to see you Saturday!

Melody and Sara have been working together at a fashion television production company based in New York City for a couple years now. They both like to eat stuff. And so when one of Melody's friends (Mike K.) started a dining club amongst his friends to check out the many buzzed-about eateries the city has to offer, Melody had the crazy idea to take it one step further: why not create a website that would facilitate in-person meetups, or eatups as we call them around here, to bring together people who don't necessarily know each other but who all share a love for good food and have a sense of adventure - in eating and in greeting?

Rendezfoods: making the world a friendlier and more delicious place, one eatup at a time.
